Residential Wind Power Systems

Types of Residential Systems

Performance

  • 10 Kw System - 600- 2,000 Kilowatt-hours per month (depending on wind rescource).

This system does not provide back-up power during utility power outages. It automatically shuts off to protect the safety of utility repair crews.

Recommended for:

  • Homes or businesses that use at least 1,000 kWh's per month.
  • Property sizes of 1 acre or more
  • Wind Class 2 or higher

We recommend this package for most homeowners and small businesses.  The 10 kW Excel-S wind turbine with the Powersync power processor costs less than a BWC HomeSure system and provides the most favorable economics.  Excess energy is sold to the utility company or "stored" by utilities offering net metering.

Performance

  • 2 Kw System - 160 - 300 Kilowatt-hours (kWh's) per month (depending on wind resource), 12 hours to over a week of back-up power (depending on load and wind).

This system contains batteries and can provide essential household power during power outages.

Recommended for:

  • Areas where power outages are a problem.
  • Homes or businesses that use at least 800 kWh's per month.
  • Property sizes of 1/2 acre
  • Wind Class 2 or higher

We recommend this package for homeowners and small businesses that want protection from extended power outages. This capability requires the addition of batteries and more sophisticated inverters.

The Home.Sure system keeps the batteries charged up and during an outage home power is supplied by both the batteries and the wind turbine.

Performance

  • 1 Kw system - 60-150 AC Kilowatt-hours per month (depending on wind rescource).

This system contains batteries and is typically used in conjunction with a back-up generator (gasoline, propane, or diesel fuel). These systems are modular and can be expanded easily.

Recommended for:

  • Typical off-grid homes, schools, clinics, etc.
  • Locations where delivering or storing diesel fuel is a problem.
  • Retrofit to existing diesel-only power system to provide up to 24-hour power availability.
  • Wind Class 2 or higher.

We recommend this package for homes, schools, clinics and other smaller off-grid applications.  These systems are also easily retrofitted to existing diesel-only systems in order to save fuel and provide up to 24-hour power.

Performance

  • 1.2 Kw Hybrid System - 80-200 Kilowatt-hours per month (depending on wind and solar rescources.

Hybrid wind & solar systems provide more consistent year-round performance and reduce the need for back-up generation.  We highly recommend wind and solar hybrids for smaller systems.

This hybrid system provides more consistent year-round renewable energy production.  These systems are modular and can be expanded easily.

Recommended for:

  • Typical off-grid homes, schools, clinics, etc.
  • Systems without back-up engine generators.
  • Retrofit to existing diesel-only power system to provide up to 24-hour/day power availability.
  • Wind Class 2 or higher.

Aspen Electric wind turbine systems connect to your household wiring, just like a large appliance. The system works cooperatively with your utility power. Often you will be getting some power from both the wind turbine and the power company. If there is no wind at during a time period, the power company supplies all the power.

As the wind turbine begins to work the power you draw from the power company is reduced. Causing your power meter to slow down. This reduces your utility bills!

We offer several different kinds of systems. Our most popular is the standard 10 Kilowatt system, but we also offer systems with battery backup power, off grid systems, and hybrid systems that utilize both wind and solar.
